Once these objects are carried by the medium into pump casings or reactors, they cause hard-impact damage. Ordinary Y-type strainers either have openings too large to catch them or too small and clog immediately. Only the Magnetic Trap Filter solves both problems at once. Instead of relying on mesh openings, we arrange high-strength magnetic rods in staggered layers inside the housing, leaving 8mm gaps between rods. Ferromagnetic debris passing through is magnetically attracted to the rod surfaces and does not get jammed in the gaps, so pressure drop is minimal. We once supplied a Magnetic Trap Filter for a chemical plant's steam condensate line; upon first inspection after installation, a 3-cm-long welding rod tip was found inside-the client immediately decided to replace all temporary filters on new pipelines with this model. In an even more extreme case, a Magnetic Trap Filter ran for two months at a natural gas transmission station, and during cleaning we found over 20 grams of iron filings and several nail-sized rust flakes. The station manager said, "If these had entered the compressor, the repair bill would have been at least 50,000 RMB." To ensure particles are not dislodged by high-velocity gas or liquid flow, we added flow-straightening cones at the front of the magnetic rods, creating localized vortex deceleration to give magnetism sufficient adsorption time. We built our own test bench and ran continuous 72-hour tests under harsh conditions of 3m/s flow velocity and 5g/L iron content. Even when the rod surfaces were near saturation, the Magnetic Trap Filter maintained capture efficiency above 80%. Moreover, the rods are secured with double-end fixed brackets, preventing them from swaying under fluid impact-especially critical in high-pressure steam pipelines, because a broken magnetic rod would itself become a new hazard. That is why we use seamless stainless steel tubes as the outer sleeve for the magnetic rods, with a wall thickness of 2mm, welded caps at both ends, and strength fully meeting the 4.0MPa pressure rating. Today, this Magnetic Trap Filter is widely used in petrochemical, power, and marine industries, and many engineering firms have included it on their preferred equipment shortlists because its reliability has been proven on site.

Quality Control

We support OEM/ODM and can customize according to your technical drawings or site conditions. For example, if you need magnetic rods rated above 150℃, we use samarium-cobalt magnets; for food-grade applications requiring sanitary tri-clamp connections and mirror-polished housings, we can do that too. Custom sample lead time is typically around 10 working days; sample fees are charged at actual cost, but once the subsequent formal order reaches a certain amount, the sample fee can be fully deducted from the invoice. Additionally, we allow mixing different connection sizes within a minimum order quantity-for instance, if you order 10 units, 5 can be flanged and 5 threaded, at no extra charge. For long-term major clients, we can even design dedicated mounting brackets to your specifications, with the cost amortized so that per-unit cost is far lower than buying brackets externally.

Certifications

We apply even stricter quality control to the Magnetic Trap Filter than to ordinary filters, because it is often used in high-pressure, hazardous applications. All pressure-bearing shell welds are 100% dye-penetrant inspected; each magnetic rod is individually tested for magnetic flux density with recorded values; and the housing is hydrostatically tested at 1.5 times design pressure for 30 minutes. Each unit comes with full material certificates, welding procedure qualifications, and pressure test reports. We also permanently stamp the serial number on the shell, so even ten years later we can trace the raw material batch and the operators involved. We also accept third-party inspection supervision at site, provided we are notified in advance, at the requester's cost.

 

FAQ

 

Q: How often does this filter need to be cleaned?

A: It depends on the ferromagnetic content in your medium. For new pipeline flushing, we recommend daily inspection; under normal steadystate conditions, once a week or once a month is usually sufficient. The magnetic rods have a large adsorption capacity, and the efficiency curve remains very stable before obvious saturation. We suggest adjusting the subsequent cleaning schedule based on the amount of iron debris collected during the first cleaning.

Q: Do the magnetic rods lose magnetism over time?

A: Neodymium magnets have an annual demagnetization rate of less than 2% at room temperature, and we guarantee them for 12 months. If your medium temperature often exceeds 80℃, we recommend opting for samariumcobalt hightemperature rods, which have a longer service life. We can recommend the right option based on your operating conditions.
Q: Can backwashing replace extraction for cleaning?
A: Not recommended. Because ferromagnetic particles are held by magnetic force, reverse water flow cannot dislodge them and may even carry fine particles downstream. Our design is extractable-once pulled out, a water spray cleans the rods thoroughly, much more effectively than backwashing.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity? Can I buy just one?

A: We have no MOQ; we accept orders for a single unit. However, for special pressure ratings or nonstandard sizes, delivery time may need to be confirmed separately, generally within 1015 working days.
